A Day in the Life of 60,000 File Conversions
By Ethan Brooks – Product Advisor at AnyConv
60,000 file conversions a day. That’s not a typo — it’s an average day at AnyConv.
And yet, despite those numbers, we keep things lean, fast, and secure. Today, I want to take you behind the scenes and show you what happens every time someone drags a file onto our site and hits “Convert”.
Spoiler: It’s more exciting than you think.
🟢 Step 1: The Upload — Minimal, Encrypted, Temporary
When you upload a file to AnyConv, it doesn’t just “land” somewhere. It’s immediately routed through a secure HTTPS connection to our file queue — sitting temporarily on RAM-based storage, never written to disk unless required for processing.
No user accounts. No identifiers. Just you and your file.
⚙️ Step 2: The Smart Match — Finding the Right Engine
We don’t use one-size-fits-all logic. We’ve built a library of optimized pipelines, each tailored to a specific format pair — from .heic to .jpeg
, to .pdf to .docx
, to more obscure stuff like .fb2 to .mobi
.
Once your file is uploaded, our system instantly picks the best conversion path based on:
- File type
- Output format
- Metadata
- Size and encoding
- Optimization preferences
You’ll never notice this — it happens in milliseconds — but under the hood, it’s what makes AnyConv feel “instant”.
💨 Step 3: The Actual Conversion — Fast, Isolated, Logged (Lightly)
We process conversions inside isolated containers that spin up, do their job, and vanish. This ensures:
- No cross-contamination
- No access to other users’ files
- No lingering temp data
- Full control over timeouts and resource use
We log only what’s necessary to troubleshoot performance. Not who you are. Not what you uploaded.
🔥 Step 4: The Download Window — 1 Hour. That’s It.
Once your file is ready, you’ll get a download link. That file sits on our servers for exactly 1 hour, then it’s wiped. No extensions. No “just in case” copies.
That’s not just policy — it’s code.
🌍 Step 5: Repeat. Globally.
Now multiply this by 60,000. Every. Single. Day.
From the U.S. and Germany to Brazil and South Korea, users across 190+ countries trust us with their files — because we don’t treat those files like data. We treat them like private conversations.
And that makes all the difference.
🎯 Why It Works
We didn’t set out to build a big company. We set out to build a small tool that does one thing — really well.
Today, that tool is helping millions of people get things done faster, safer, and without all the noise.
And we’re just getting started.
