Description A .cbr file is a compressed file that allows a set of comic book images to be stored. These images can be ordered and the format in which they are displayed can be altered to allow two images to be viewed side by side, in the same way as a double page spread would occur. OEB (Open eBook File) – This format was developed for e-Books under the standard of Open eBook standard in accordance with Digital community publishing forum (IDPF). At present this format has been replaced with file format EPUB. OEB Format (Open eBook File) combines the text in HML codes and other sources of data (Graphics & Tables) into one digital archive. It is supported by Calibre, Sony Reader, Adobe Digital Editions. OEB files are endorsed under copyright protection right of DRM (Digital Right Management). This format was developed for electronic books sold through online-shops.
Technical details A .cbr file is actually just a .rar file with an amended file extension. What makes a .cbr file different is that it can be opened directly by comic book viewer applications without a requirement to decompress it first. The user can also associate the file extension with a Comic Book Viewer application. Typical image formats are allowed for a .cbr file such as JPEG, GIFF, TIFF and PNG.
